Guernsey Harbour Development
23/11/2022 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
Invitation from the Channel Island Group of Professional Engineers.
Dear All,
I hope you will consider joining us for our next presentation – please see details below/attached. This will be last one for this year.
I would be grateful if you could also pass this invitation on to anyone else you know who may be interested. These harbour proposals are generating significant interest from a wide range of local groups, and CIGPE should be an excellent forum for discussing some of the technical aspects.
I will be having dinner with our speaker before the event. If anyone would like to join us then you would be very welcome. Please drop me a line and I will add you to our table booking. (We are booked to eat at 6:30pm.)
Future Harbour Development (Jenny Giles CEng MICE – Programme Manager, Guernsey Ports)
Wednesday 23rd November – Les Cotils – 7:30pm start
Jenny will be presenting details of Guernsey Harbour’s proposals to create a new 24 hour access marina in St. Peter Port. The plans would see a new breakwater built in the middle of the harbour to provide protection for an additional 220 boats. Jenny and her team have carried a number of technical studies, including wave modelling and the identification of areas for dredging. This project is expected to cost around £90m, and the proposals are to go before the States early next year. This presentation forms a part of Guernsey Harbour’s consultation with the community, and there will be an opportunity to ask questions and discuss the plans.
Jenny Giles is a former CIGPE Chairperson, and is currently working with Guernsey Harbours as the Programme Manager for this project. (Members may recall that she recently arranged a presentation on the investigation of the harbour bed, given by their specialist contractor ‘Fugro’).
